FAQ

How much will it cost?

Pricing depends on the size, placement, level of detail, and style. Small or simple tattoos usually have a minimum price, while larger or more detailed pieces I’ll price individually. I can give an accurate estimate once I see your idea and know the placement.

How long will it take?

The time depends also on the placement, size and difficulty of the design. Often times it’s difficult to give a precise time + larger designs may require multiple sessions. After seeing your idea, I’ll estimate the session length.

Can you do this design?

Firstly, I will not copy other artist’s work line by line. When making a booking, it’s great if you can add 2-4 reference pictures that will give me a clearer idea of what you envision and like! From there, we can discuss further and I will be able to draw something that fits the area, shape, size and also has your preferred elements & vibe! πŸ™‚

Can you do it in colour or black & grey instead?

I prefer working mainly with black ink & graywash. But am happy to add a splash of colour in some designs, when possible.

Do you take walk-ins or only appointments?

I only work with pre-booked appointments to give each client enough time and preparation. I will need time to sketch the perfect design and leave enough time to make any changes, if need be.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Most bookings are made 1–3 weeks in advance, but this can vary. For small tattoos the waiting time is usually shorter. Sometimes there can be last minute openings – these will be posted on my Instagram Stories — instagram.com/redfern.ink

Do I need to pay a deposit?

Yes, deposits secure your appointment and cover design time. The deposit is deducted from the final price on the day of your tattoo.

How do I prepare for the appointment?

Sleep well, eat a good meal, drink water, and avoid alcohol the day before. Wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the tattoo area.

Does this spot hurt a lot?

Pain varies from person to person, but generally ribs, feet, hands, spine, and stomach are more sensitive. Arms & legs tend to be easier, especially for first time tattoos. Often the fear/expectation of the pain is worse than the actual feeling on the day.

Can you cover up scars?

Yes! I have worked with many clients with different severities of scars. That said – it is very important for me to do a quick, in person, consultation with you before saying yes. Scar tissue is often more sensitive skin and therefore needs more precision, patience & skill – for me to know for sure, if your particular scar(s) can be covered, I will have to physically see the skin first and ask a few further questions.

What should I bring with me?

Comfortable dark clothing, any hydrating drinks (will have tea/water at studio too!;)) and a small snacks (sugary is best) for longer sessions.
